@AirBerlin says goodbye on Twitter

Today is the day Air Berlin comes to an end. After 39 years of operation the carrier’s final flight departs this evening. After a couple quiet weeks the company’s social media team is back online to pay homage to the end of an era.

From the issuance of the operating certificate…

…to the first flight…

…to classic shots of the cabin crew, the photos are spectacular.

Also, like many things Air Berlin-related it seems like maybe this effort wasn’t properly planned all the way through. The activity comes in bursts rather than consistently and we’re still in the late 70s or early 80s as it approaches quitting time in Germany.

Hopefully the content keeps flowing this afternoon and evening because it really is amazing stuff. Check out the @airberlin account for more or chip in.

The #Forever39 hashtag is starting to gather some photo contributions from others as well.
