Help choose ANA’s 2020 Olympics livery

ANA is growing its special livery collection with plans to paint a plane in support of the 2020 Olympics and Paraolympic Games. Nearly 800 designs were submitted by the public for the contest and the pool was whittled to these five. Now the vote goes online to pick the winner. The new livery will appear on a 777-200 operating on domestic routes in Japan.

Which of these five special liveries do you want to see on an ANA 777 to celebrate the 2020 Olympics?

Partially because I know what it takes to paint detailed gradients and multiple colors on aircraft I’m partial to design number five. What’s your vote?

  1. If I were not given a theme and was asked to just choose one that would look the best on the given aircraft, I’d pick the bottom-right no question. Lots of bright colors and interesting shapes, makes for a very unique look.

But since the theme is “Summer Olympics Tokyo 2020”, my winner is the top-left. The progression of Japanese symbols from the tail to the silhouettes of athletes towards the nose suits the theme perfectly. The energy and use of color is the icing on the cake.

Either way, I applaud ANA for not shying away from special liveries and themes. It also helps to have a solid onboard product! I hope to fly them soon.
