Flightseeing the North Pole and Greenland

Last week Air Berlin ran a charter flight from Berlin up to the North Pole and then back over Greenland and the Faroe Islands. I wasn’t on board but some friends were and they said it was an amazing experience. And, fortunately for all of us, one of the pilots set up a camera looking out the front window to produce a time lapse video of the flight. The views, particularly over Greenland ~4:00 in, are incredible.

This is not the first time Air Berlin has run such a flight. Here are some other videos from prior years.

Of course, with the current uncertainty about Air Berlin’s future it is hard to know if there will be a 2018 edition of the trip. But it might be worth keeping an eye out, just in case. Looks like a pretty great time.
