Want to name a Virgin America plane?

If you’ve got $60,000 then that opportunity can be yours. Even better, the deal comes with a round-trip charter flight on any Virgin America route currently operated within the United States.

It is actually a pretty great deal for the charter flight option especially if you go for the transcon routes. The hourly charter rate at that point gets to be pretty close to costs of much smaller aircraft. Plus, they’re throwing in the standard catering kit for free to passengers. Open bar!

I wish I had the spare cash to do this. It would be an incredible party. Alas, I haven’t won the lottery lately.

Thanks to Dan over at Things in the Sky for pointing this out earlier.

  1. Hey! People were willing to pay upwards of several hundred dollars for the MegaDo charters, so getting a party of 146 people to chip in ~$410 is doable!

Only if someone is willing to handle all of the logistics of arranging such event :p I, for one, would hop on the boat for the party!

    1. I’d gladly handle the logistics but for a few things. First, the rules say you cannot sell the seats on the charter and are broad enough that it could get messy to get around that. Second, I’d be on the hook for $60K and run the risk of not being able to sell out or otherwise recoup. Even with roughly 16 months to plan the trip and get it done that’s pretty unnerving.

  2. Indeed, $413 a seat…perhaps less in Y if more is charged for F…is very affordable.

Think they’d put 146 names on the side of the plane?

  3. It would be cool if they collect all 146 signatures and digitalize them then paint all of our signatures on the side of the plane 😀
