Oneworld award alerts now available!

Looking for a free and easy way to monitor award availability for flights on oneworld partner airlines? Look no further than the new oneworld award alerts page of the Wandering Aramean Travel Tools site. While live searching is not yet available (coming soon, hopefully) I am now able to offer ability to set up alerts for a specific route or even a specific flight. Here are some screen shots of what the alert setup interface looks like:

Each of the icons there is clickable button to allow for easy adjusting of search parameters once the alert is created. For more specific edit options click the pencil icon on the left for the full edit page.

For users who have upgraded to a First Class membership there are a few additional search filters available.

You can choose to only be alerted if a particular carrier (use the 2 letter IATA code) is available or combine that with a flight number to search for a specific flight rather than a route in general. You can also toggle the option to allow awards with mixed-cabin results (by default this is on for everyone). And you can enable receiving alerts via SMS (available for US & UK only; if you are in the UK please email me to configure your account!).

Should an alert be triggered you will receive an email that looks something like this one:

In the inventory column the travel classes are Y/W/C/F and only those with availability will be shown. A + symbol indicates that the cabin is available on all flights in the itinerary and a * symbol means the itinerary is a mixed cabin award. In cases of a mixed cabin award the details of which flights are in a lesser cabin are shown below. Finally, a ** indicator in the time column indicates arrival or departure on a date other than the originally searched one (e.g. a redeye arrival +1).

Alerts are set to run at least once daily. For members who upgrade to First Class the alerts run a minimum of four times daily.

The system is based on the award search interface from Qantas. You’ll have to provide your Qantas account credentials for searches to work; there is a reminder at the top of the alerts page if you haven’t yet set the credentials for your account.

Head on over to the alerts page and set up an alert or two. Let me know how it works, and enjoy the flights!

  1. Hey Buddy- Just signed up for your “First Class” How long does it take to me in the system so that I can setup TXT Alerts???

    1. You’re all set, Concorde123. Sorry it took a bit longer than usual; I was out shopping to prep for my next trip. 😀

    1. Sorry about that, George….I honestly didn’t realize that Qantas had the partnership with El Al for awards. I just ran a test and it does, in fact, work. So for award inventory on El Al you can use this interface. For upgrades the other one I linked to is still preferred.

  2. Awesome Seth. Now, I can totally just go to your site first for my travel searching. Great job!

  3. Great work!

I think this is a better way to check for LY options since it will only show availability that is bookable with AA.

Does putting in NYC work as well as making three different alerts for EWR, JFK and LGA?

    1. Well, you can manually check the award inventory yourself and see if it is showing up but the alert isn’t triggering. If there is a specific alert you’re interested in I can also check the logs for you. Click on the “edit” button and then email me the number at the end of that URL.

But, by default, it will not send you an email if there are no award seats.

  4. Hi Seth,
The alerts have not been working for me since 9/17. Then randomly today, I got an alert today. I have many alerts set and know that it is not that there were not award seats, something seems to be broken. Are you aware of this from other subscribers?
Also, is there a different place you have a support FAQ?

  5. Very cool, thank you! Seems worth upgrading to First Class membership just to say “Thank you!” (as well as the extra bennies).

One minor thing: when I enter my QF FF details, clicking “save” just reloads the page. There’s no error message or anything. It took me a while to realize that it actually did save and would now work.

  6. I get an error when trying to sign up for First Class: Server Error in ‘/’ Application. The resource cannot be found.
