Display lowest SkyMiles Award Rates in search results

Perhaps the most significant feedback I’ve received since launching the HowManySkyMiles.com site is people asking about a way to show the results “live” as they’re searching for awards on the Delta site. It turns out that isn’t too hard thanks to the latest browser extension I’ve put together. When you run a search on the Delta site with the tool enabled it adds an extra row in the header of the search results with the details.

The lowest rates from the HowManySkyMiles.com site show atop the results grid.

There’s not a whole lot else to it beyond that, though it does have a few limitations. Most notably, the results are based on the one-way search data I have. A round-trip search will double the numbers but if you search for a multi-city trip there’s a decent change the numbers won’t line up. And, of course, if I haven’t found particular rates or country pairs there might not be data. Also, it only shows if both the economy and premium cabins are showing on the results page. If it isn’t then I don’t show data. I’ll work on that but it didn’t make the first release. Other than that, though, the data should be pretty solid.

In this example the coach rates are not the lowest but there is a business class one which does match the lowest rate if you’re willing to take the connection.

You can get the browser extension from the Chrome Store or, if you don’t use Chrome, you can grab the file directly from here.

Let me know if it gives you any troubles or if there is any data which seems to be off.
