Want a few free United MileagePlus points? MyPoints is giving new users 750 Mileage Plus points for registering and an extra 1000 for using its shopping portal. Like most such deals there is some fine print but this one seems rather reasonable.

After registering and activating the account (my confirmation email went to Gmail spam; yours might, too) I chose to deactivate all the email subscriptions, mostly because one of the conditions is that the account remain open for at least 30 days and then the points could take 6-8 weeks after that to credit. Which is to say that it is not a great deal to get the points quickly, but assuming it works it is free points for minimal effort or commitment.
Also worth noting that the email I got announcing this suggested it might only be available to co-branded MileagePlus/Chase Credit Card holders, but the registration link seems to work for everyone.

Try https://www.mypoints.com/emp/u/signup.do?campaign=0Tk8as_Zc-Gua0f8RPXQ as the registration link; I updated the post but if you clicked earlier it might have been the old one.
Or, despite my testing across multiple browsers and computers, they did a better job of targeting this than it appeared and I screwed up. But it looks like it is working on the systems I’m trying with.
