JetBlue put award seats on sale this week, knocking 25% off the redemption price across the board. The deal is valid for bookings made by 4 August 2016 and for travel between 7 September and 16 November 2016. No special registration or other effort required; just go book a flight.

Blackout dates are October 6-16 and the deal is not valid for Friday or Sunday travel. But poking around where I know there are $49 flights (e.g. LAS-LGB in November) I’m also seeing 2,600 point award trips on those same flights, a 1.69 cent valuation. That’s not as high as the 2.23 cents I got for the inaugural flight to Cuba a few days back, but it is an improvement on the 1.25 cents/point rate the trip would normally price at (3,500 points). And the Cuba flights are part of the sale, with the even higher valuations, but there are limits to the overall value there relative to the rest of the route network given restrictions about such travel.
Based on the trends in how JetBlue values award points typically cheaper trips are better point values. That should tie in well with this sale for the fall season where demand is relatively lower for travel, assuming your travel plans are flexible enough to work with the date restrictions.

If only the window was a wee bit bigger. :/
Tell me about it. My next trip starts the day before the travel window and ends on a Friday. THIIIISSS close. :/
Yeah, I have an award trip booked with them, but it’s for late next week. I also don’t have anything I need to book for the travel period, nor do I really have any time we could book something. Oh well.
